The President of Equatorial Guinea honors the Chinese Ambassador

The awarding of this medal by the Head of State, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, to the Asian diplomat took place last Thursday at the People’s Palace, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy and some presidential advisers.

The ceremony began with the reading of Presidential Decree number 04/2013 dated January 17, which awarded the Grand Cross of Independence to the diplomat Wang Shixiong, for satisfactorily performing the mission that the Chinese government gave him for two years with the population of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. The decree was read by the Chancellor of National Orders, Antonio Obama Ndong.

During the delivery of this distinction, the President of Equatorial Guinea, in addition to describing the medal as a gift from the people and Government of our country, he evaluated as positive the functions Shixiong has carried out in our nation, efforts that have resulted in the State visit and in the work of a Equatorial Guinean high delegation to the People’s Republic of China, during 2012.

Moreover, also on Thursday, the Head of State and Government granted an audience to the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States of America, Mark L. Asquino.

In the presence of the Equatorial Guinean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Asquino addressed issues relating to the strengthening of cooperation between the peoples and governments of Equatorial Guinea and the USA.
