The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu says Sudan cannot “suarez” (impede) Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the next African Cup of Nations to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in 2012.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu said this when he stormed the training grounds of the Black Stars to urge them on to victory in their epic encounter against the Desert Hawks of Sudan at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday October 11.
Ghana is not taking their 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan lightly even though they beat them back to back en-route to the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals.
The Sudanese are level on points with the Black Stars after they stunned Congo by 2 -0 in their first match and a win for Ghana would see their point tally increase to six and thus would take them three points clear at the top of the Group.
Speaking to the Black Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Otumfuo Osei Tutu said he is confident that with determination and unity the Stars will triumph over Sudan.
Black Stars defender, John Mensah also told Citifmonline.com in an interview that the team would not let the nation down.
The Sunderland defender said the team would not underestimate the threat that the Sudanese pose despite beating them back to back in previous encounters.
Possible line up: Richard Kingston, John Paintsil, Hans Adu Sarpei, John Mensah, Isaac Vorsah, Anthony Annan, Bernard Kumordji, Kwadwo Asamoah, Andre Ayew, Prince Tagoe and Asamoah Gyan
