President Obiang receives the Russian Ambassador

The Head of State and Government, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, granted an audience on Tuesday, April 21, to the Extraordinary Ambassador and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation accredited in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Nikolai L. Ratsiborinskiy.

This audience held in the People’s Palace of Malabo served to discuss various bilateral issues, and was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Relations and Cooperation, Agapito Mba Mokuy.

The Russian Ambassador conveyed to President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo the congratulations of the people and Government of the Russian Federation, for his continuing role in the development of democracy and his willingness to cooperate with the various international institutions.

The meeting also served to strengthen the cooperation between Russia and Equatorial Guinea in the economic sphere, and address issues such as security on the African continent, the global economic and financial crisis and the threat of the terrorist group Boko Haram and other extremist groups.

During the meeting, the diplomat delivered the invitation of the Russian Government, extended to the President of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, to make a trip to Moscow next June, in the framework of the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
