The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, accompanied by his first and second deputies, met on March 4 to present seven presentations on female empowerment and International Women’s Day.

Josefina Medjaha Nseng also noted the achievements of our country in terms of gender equality, and noted the ratification by the Government of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the consecration of gender equality in the Basic Law.
She also mentioned that the Government is carrying out active social policies, aimed at eliminating the obstacles that still exist in the social structure and affect behavior towards women in today’s Equatorial Guinea.
The second presentation was given by Salvador Benguan Benguan, who made an analysis of women’s roles and referred to the necessary raise of awareness that must come from women themselves for their progress.
The third and fourth presentations were made by Jose Emilio and Crispin Engono, about the situation of working women and family conciliation.
Then, the first delegate of the Chamber of Deputies, Jesusa Obono Engono, spoke to discuss the socio-political and cultural participation of women; followed by Benjamin Mitogo, who presented an analysis on women and Parliament and Enriqueta Nze Mico spoke of women and children’s rights.
At the meeting, the football team that has represented the Chamber of Deputies in the commemoration of this international day was also presented.
