The on-going rift in the KFF led to the departure of Tawhir Muhiddin
Kenya have named Jacob Mulee as the new coach of the national team, The Harambee Stars.
His appointment comes a day after Twahir Muhiddin resigned from the post, following a poor start to the 2012 Africa cup of Nations qualifiers.
It is Mulee’s third spell in charge of the team, having taken the team to the Nations Cup in 2004 and then being reappointed the following year.
He will now be expected to repeat that feat with the Stars in two years’ time in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Muhiddin’s appointment to the post in July had reignited the rift within the Kenya Football Federation.
One faction accused the KFF’s recently appointed chairman of the technical committee Hussein Swaleh of choosing Muhiddin without consulting other members.
In the end the criticism that followed the team’s 1-0 defeat to Guinea Bissau in the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifying match, led to his resignation.
Kenya face Uganda Cranes on October 9 in their second qualifying match for the Nations Cup in 2012.
