The Under-20 women’s team and various clubs of Equatorial Guinea participate this weekend in international matches. The matches are for the FIFA Under-20 and inter-African club competitions.
After successfully hosting the Africa Cup of Nations a week ago, the attention of Equatorial Guinea this weekend is set on the performance made by our representatives in three international competitions.
The Under-20 women’s team is already in Bamako (Mali), to play this Saturday against the local team, in a first leg match valid for the preliminary phase of the Under-20 World Cup, whose finals will be held in Uzbekistan for this year 2012. The Equatorial Guineas begin as favorites, even though the match will not be on home turf. In the four times they have faced the absolute teams, the female Nzalang has always achieved victory.
On the other hand, in the Champions League on Sunday at 16:00 h at the stadium of Malabo, the Sony de Ela Nguema receives the Dolphins of Nigeria, who are already in the capital and have trained in the Guinean-Nigerian field in the Ela Nguema district. The Sony knows the Nigerian teams very well, but this is the first time they face with the Dolphins of Port Harcourt, champion of their country in 1997, 2004 and 2011.
Ela Nguema’s team has seriously prepared for this appointment. We highlight two friendly matches, one against Drogba’s Ivory Coast, and another against a team composed of players led by Samuel Etoo African, which they won 2-0. The Sony has been champion of Equatorial Guinea in 2010 and 2011. Last year it was eliminated in the same Champions League by the Angolan club Petro Atletico of Luanda.
Finally, the Atletico Semu has traveled to Bujumbura (Burundi), to face this Saturday the Lidia Academy. The match is for the preliminary phase of the Champions Clubs Cup of the CAF.
