The person serving up to now as Prime Minister, Ignacio Milam Tang, has been appointed as the new Vice President of the Nation by H.E. the Head of State, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. On the evening of Monday, May 21, other appointments were also made.
Ignacio Milam Tang, who since 2008 held the position of Prime Minister and Head of Government, from this time will hold the position of Vice President, after having been appointed for this post in the framework of the constitutional reform. Milam Tang also occupied the post of Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in Spain.
In turn, the up to now State Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Nguema Obiang Mangue, has been named First Vice President in charge of National Defense and State Security.
The position of PrimeMinister has passed to Vicente Ehate Tomi, who in recent years held other responsibilities such as Minister of Transportation, Technology, Posts and Telecommunications and Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Government in charge of the Administrative Coordination. President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo recently assured that the new Prime Minister would be, starting now, a coordinator of the actions of the Executive Branch.
The up to now State Minister of Internal Affairs and Local Corporations, Clemente Engonga, as well as the Delegate Minister of Information and Tourism, Alfonso Nse Mokuy, have been named First and Second Deputy Prime Ministers.
The appointments will continue in the upcoming days, within the framework of the constitutional reform which will also entail the creation of new institutions such as the Senate, the Court of Auditors, the State Council, the Council for Economic and Social Development, and the Ombudsman.
