The President and current Chairman of the African Union, upon his arrival in Doha, held a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Hamad Bin Jalifa Al Thani.
The city of Doha welcomed on Wednesday, November 16, over a dozen delegations of countries in the gas exportation sector. The Gas Exporting Countries Forum aims to provide member countries more support and the guidance needed to promote a stable and transparent energy market The meeting was attended by the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, the President of the transition of Libya and President of Algeria, among others.
The participating countriesare: Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela and Oman, and as observer countries, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Norway.
After the bilateral meeting held with the Emir of Qatar, the President stressed in his speech that “natural gas has the advantage that it is clean energy for its various uses. The objective of the gas producing countries should be the protection of this product and to do everything possible to ensure the interests of consumers. Cooperation should be intense, -stressed the Head of State of Equatorial Guinea- to maintain the interests of gas producers for society.”
Moreover, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo said that they should use the necessary methods to achieve the objectives in this forum, while stressing the need to host in Equatorial Guinea the next Gas Exporting Countries Forum in 2012.
