The Regional Delegate of INSESO (National Institute of Social Security), Benito Edu Ngomo, accompanied by the managing director of the New Hospital INSESO, Antonio Fernandez, inaugurated the First Medical Congress that took place on November 28 and 29 in the Spanish Cultural Center (CCE) of Bata.
The event began with the presentation of the table of honor and the inauguration by the medical director of the New Hospital INSESO.
Then, Lucio Martinez Ayecaba, the head specialist in Family and Community Medicine, told the story of this new hospital, and Valentin Micha, one of the specialists in gynecology, spoke about the importance of early diagnosis.
The fourth and fifth issues addressed were pregnancies and HIV/AIDS and the evacuation of patients with polytrauma, by the gynecologist Enrique Nbomoyo and Dr. Katia Gonzalez, a specialist in Family Medicine. Then Herminio Gomes, the medical director of the hospital, described the treatment of burn victims.
Other topics discussed during Friday, November 28, were those related to ENT emergencies; prevention and hygiene in dental health; the surgery of acute abdomen; ultrasound in the emergency department; amputation and pediatric resuscitation.
On Saturday, November 29, they discussed problems of infectious diseases: the outbreak of meningococcal meningitis W135 in Equatorial Guinea; filariasis and usefulness of the Widal test in acute diarrheal syndrome.
The closing ceremony was conducted by Lucio Martinez, who thanked the many attendees for their participation and the heads of the CCE of Bata for the efficient organization.
The event ended with a group photo on the esplanade of the cultural center.
