Equatorial Guinea has donated $2 million and various supplies to help the Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) address drought and famine, the African Union Mission in Somalia announced Tuesday (June 26th).
Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission Erastus Mwencha expressed gratitude for the humanitarian grant. Equatorial Guinea had pledged the support to alleviate drought and famine during a conference held last August in Addis Ababa.
Mwencha said the donation helps, but increased support is still needed to meet the complex humanitarian needs in Somalia.
