Representatives from the Government and Agencies of the United Nations convene to work on the Development Assistance Framework for 2013-2017
MALABO, Equatorial Guinea, Feb. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Equatorial Guinea’s Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Victoriana Nchama Nsue Okomo, and Leo Heileman, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Equatorial Guinea, hosted a meeting on the United Nations Development Assistance Framework for 2013-2017 in the city of Ebebiyin.
The meeting was held to provide delegates the opportunity to analyze and validate the final stages of the programme, which aims to provide Equatorial Guinea assistance with its current development projects and achieve the objectives of the 2020 Millennium Development Goals.
Delegates began working on the plan’s framework and main objectives last year when they met in Bata to discuss the achievements that resulted from the 2008-2012 programme. They concluded that Equatorial Guinea had made significant progress, especially economically through the increased production of oil, and that there was room for additional advancement.
Through the UNDAF for 2013-2017, the two delegations are working to take advantage of Equatorial Guinea’s opportunity to promote growth through new development projects. According to Leo Heileman, the plan will promote efforts to strengthen democracy, good governance and sustainable management of the environment within the country.
