Falcons’ striker, Pepertua Nkwocha is celebrating the national women team’s exploits tongue-in-check. This is because according her, the victory at the African Women Championship will be sweeter if the Falcons do well at the FIFA Women World Cup next year in Germany.
Nkwocha’s 11 goals at the tournament in South Africa fired the Falcons to their sixth title after beating Equatorial Guinea 4-2 in the final, but the former African woman player of the year said that she has Germany on her mind.
“Winning the trophy for the sixth time is worth celebrating. But it will count to nothing if we don’t play at least in the semi-final of the Women World Cup next year.
“And if we are going to make this happen we must have the best of preparations. We have the talent that can take Nigeria far, but if we don’t prepare well then it is always going to be a struggle,” said the African goal queen.
