Chinese president appoints seven new ambassadors

BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Hu Jintao appointed seven new ambassadors to foreign countries, according to a statement from the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) on Tuesday.

Zhang Junsai was appointed ambassador to Canada, replacing Lan Lijun.

Wang Yingwu was appointed ambassador to Democratic Republic of Congo, replacing Wu Zexian.

Huo Zhengde was appointed ambassador to Tunisia, replacing Li Beifen.

Wang Shixiong was appointed ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, replacing Yan Xiaomin.

Chen Gonglai was appointed ambassador to Mauritania, replacing Zhang Xun.

Kuang Weilin was appointed ambassador to Sierra Leone, replacing Qiu Shaofang.

Zhi Shaolin was appointed ambassador to Montenegro, replacing Li Manchang.

Hu made the appointments in line with the decision made by the NPC Standing Committee.
