Benin set to appoint new coach
Benin Republic will soon announce a new coach to replace Frenchman Jean-Marc Nobilo, who resigned on Tuesday.
President of the Fédération Béninoise de Football, Moucherafou Anjorin, told SuperSport.com.
Nobilo, who was hired in August, left the Squirrels after two matches in the qualifiers for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea due to contractual problems.
“We have a new coach now, but I’m in a meeting”, was all Anjorin said when SuperSport.com made enquiries about the vacant position.
Nobilo entered the history books as Benin recorded their best-ever start in the qualifiers. The team started with a draw at home to Burundi and recorded an important away win at Rwanda.
The Frenchman gave Nigerian-born Isaac Luther his first international cap during his short tenure as coach of the Benin National Team.
Benin’s third qualifier is against Cote d’Ivoire in March, next year.
The new coach will prepare the team for the November 17 international friendly.
