The President of the Pilot Committee of the airline of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States, Air CEMAC, has issued a statement rejecting the offer of technical cooperation presented by South African Airways.
The statement said that in January 2010, South African Airways (SAA) offered to participate in the capital of Air CEMAC. However, in November of that year they decided to halt this participation, offering technical cooperation in the framework of a service contract.
For his part, the President of the Pilot Committee of Air CEMAC, Jean Marie Maguena indicates that the publication of this notice is to clarify some misinformation about the relationship between SAA and Air CEMAC, and recalls that the conditions of signing this service and cooperation contract have not been accepted by the shareholders of Air CEMAC.
This decision was taken during the Extraordinary General Meeting on February 16, 2012, which confirmed the impossibility of concluding the contract that would have united SAA with Air CEMAC.
In December 2001, during the conference of Heads of State of the CEMAC held in Yaoundé (Cameroon), Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Cameroon, Chad and Central African Republic adopted the creation of a common carrier as an instrument of sub-regional integration, to facilitate the movement of its citizens and fill the void left by Air Afrique.
