African leaders at UN stress partnerships, funding as new sustainable development agenda takes shape

26 September 2013 – African leaders addressing the United Nations General Assembly today pledged continued progress on eradicating poverty, as they urged strong partnerships and adequate financing to foster a new, more inclusive development agenda.

Since the beginning of this week and continuing through 1 October, the 68th high-level General debate is providing high-level officials an opportunity to shape the parameters for a post-2015 sustainability agenda, which will succeed the eight anti-poverty targets known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
