Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue has filed a defamation suit against Daniel Lebègue, Chairman of the French branch of Transparency International, for accusing him of diverting public funds for personal use.
The State Minister of Agriculture and Forestry has filed the lawsuit with the High Court of Paris, to answer the charges that Daniel Lebègue had expressed against him in the newspaper Le Parisien, on February 16, accusing him of diverting public funds.
Emmanuel Marsigny, the lawyer of Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, has issued a statement which firmly rejects the baseless allegations of embezzlement of public funds, and which are being indiscriminately transmitted by the media with a clear intent to harm him.
Furthermore, the lawyer for the Government of Equatorial Guinea in France, Olivier Pardo, recalled that the residence attacked by French authorities does not belong -as has been repeatedly stated- to the Minister, but is a house of diplomatic use and, therefore, a building protected by diplomatic immunity.
