Program of activities of the Ninth Summit of the Sullivan Foundation

A few days before the beginning of the Ninth Summit of the Sullivan Foundation, the organizing committee has already prepared the program of activities.


The Ninth Summit of the Sullivan Foundation, to be held this year in the city of Sipopo, Malabo, between August 20 and 24, has the theme “Waking Africa”. The program of activities is already prepared and according to this, the guests will begin arriving two days before the opening ceremony.

On August 19 a special program begins for the younger participants in the Hilton Hotel in Malabo. That same day, the board of the Sullivan Foundation will meet behind closed doors at the Sipopo Conference Center. On that day and in the same venue will also be held the meeting of the section heads of the Summit.

On August 20 the opening ceremony will be held in the following order: protocol introduction, welcome address by the Mayor of the City of Malabo; speech by the Chairman of the Foundation; speech by the Chairman of the Ninth Summit and opening remarks by the host President, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

After a brief break, and after the inauguration, they will discuss other issues, such as the return of the African Diaspora, the hopeful future of the continent; Africa, yesterday, today and tomorrow; the ties that bind us, human security, development and creation of human capital.

On Tuesday, August 21 will continue the plenary session with topics such as: democracy, human rights and citizenship, Africa and the African Diaspora, innovation and entrepreneurship through partnership, the transnationalism of Africa; maritime security, women and gender in society; presentation of fashion and dressmaking of the diaspora and African craft exhibition.

On Wednesday, August 22, the statements of the Heads of State, special envoys and delegations will continue, and bilateral meetings will be held between the Presidents of each State. Among other events, a new basketball court will be inaugurated and screenings of African films will be shown.

On Thursday, August 23, will continue interactive discussions between the current and former Heads of State and Government on the “post-traumatic syndrome of growth”. For them, they will use social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. The day will include a banquet given by the Head of State and his wife, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Constancia Mangue de Obiang.

On Friday, August 24, the reading of the declaration of youth and the recommendations of the Ninth Summit of the Sullivan Foundation will take place. The closing ceremony will include speeches by the Chairman of the Foundation, Hope Masters Sullivan, the Ninth Chairman of the Summit, H.E. John A. Kufuor and the closure by H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

On the same day, visits will be made to places of interest in the city, and a special concert will be held.
