Nkwocha is world class – Ebi
Djurgardens IF of Sweden defender, Onome Ebi believes her Super Falcons teammate is the best striker on the continent.
Perpetua Nkwocha was in devastating form on Monday as she hammered a fine hat trick against Mali in Sinaba in Nigeria’s first game of the African Women’s championships.
Ebi was effusive in her praise for the Sunnana SK of Sweden poacher.
“She is a great striker: the best on the continent and she proved it again by scoring three goals yesterday (Monday).
“We still have a long way to go. We have played only one match and we must not let this result get into our heads because there are still many rivers to cross,” she told SuperSport.com.
The former Bayelsa Queen defender also highlighted the importance of integrating the upcoming youngsters in the current squad.
“The new players did very well. They always want to learn and are humble. You could see the way they fought for every ball and even (Francesca) Ordega scored. So it is good for Nigerian football,” she said.
Coach of the team, Eucharia Uche is however calling on the lasses to keep their feet firmly on the ground. The former Falcons captain is under no illusions as regards the actual target of the side.
“I have congratulated the girls. They did well but we have not achieved anything yet.
We came here to achieve two things; first is to qualify for the World Cup and the second is to reclaim the trophy which we lost at Equatorial Guinea two years ago.
Until we achieve these we will not rest on our laurels,” she said.
