On the occasion of International Women’s Day, today March 8, the First Lady of the Nation, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, sent a message to all women in Equatorial Guinea and has offered a financial contribution for the activities to be undertaken during this event.
The First Lady of the Nation sent a message to all women of Equatorial Guinea in which she welcomed “the efforts made by the Government in favor of the programs that affect women and especially the strong commitment of our President, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, to always maintain equality between women and men, to our common commitment to develop Equatorial Guinea, ensuring peace, order and security for all the citizens of our country,” she said in her speech.
Constancia Mangue de Obiang, always committed to the rights of the disadvantaged, made a contribution of 12,500,000 CFA francs, over €19,000, to contribute to the activities taking place during this event, “so that the joy of this festive day can reach women in outlying areas“.
International Women’s Day is celebrated with many festivities in Malabo, as in other localities. The festivities actually began on February 10 with the announcement of a poetry contest “Women, Protagonists of Development“. But they have also carried out many activities such as broadcasting messages through the media, talks between women, dance contests, performances, sports competitions and other events. On Wednesday, March 7, there was a cross-country race for women called “Women Advance” as well as plays in the Spanish and French Cultural Centers respectively, which have also prepared other activities for the occasion.
But surely, the main day is, today, March 8, when the world celebrates International Women’s Day, which in Malabo will highlight the great procession that will begin at the Cathedral of Malabo and will reach Women’s Plaza. During the procession the Minister of Social Affairs and Promotion of Women, Eulalia Envo Bela will speak.
In the afternoon an official reception will be held at the Hotel Tres de Agosto, with performances by various artists and the fashion show organized by Afro-Fashion.
In Bata, the procession will be repeated, although in this case the speech will be provided by the Regional Delegate of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Promotion of Women.
