Chuku Chuku is the name of the official mascot of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2015), which will be held between the days of January 17 and February 8 in the stadiums of Equatorial Guinea.

It is a friendly and colorful porcupine that appears playing football, with his classical quills converted in a multicolored mane.

The African jungle porcupine (Atherurus africanus) is one of the characteristic species of Equatorial Guinea, common in the extensive forest areas of the country.

For his part, the President of Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, presided yesterday over an important meeting in which he reported that everything was ready to begin this great event of international football, which will take place in Equatorial Guinean lands after the refusal of other countries for fear of the Ebola virus. In this regard, the Head of State noted that all the preventive measures to avoid contagion of the virus and to act in case it should occur have been taken.

The President of the Republic invited all the Equatoguineans to go to the stadiums of Ebebiyin, Mongomo, Bata and Malabo, and cheer on the teams in this national festivity. The prices for the tickets to the matches are also inviting: matches can be seen of this CAN 2015 from 500 CFA francs (less than €1) in Ebebiyin and Mongomo and 1,000 CFA francs in Malabo and Bata.
